Moldova's application for EU membership has resulted in Russia banning fruit imports, impacting 95% of the country's apple and grape exports. Despite challenges, Moldova is investing in new apple varieties and exploring the European market. The EU has temporarily liberalized trade for seven Moldovan agricultural products to support the country's economy, which is reliant on agriculture, following the Russian war's impact on Ukraine and the loss of traditional markets. Moldova is also looking to expand to new markets, including Saudi Arabia and Egypt, to offset losses from Russia.
