In the last three days, so many events happened in Argentina that they seem like three months. A hastily arranged exchange rate regime disguised as a reduction in agricultural withholdings was put together. A messy meeting with Donald Trump in which the U.S. president took the opportunity to mock the Argentine delegation ("I don't think they need a bailout"). Argentina's new plea for alms –typical of a country with disabled leaders– caused an internal conflict in the U.S. with the "farmers," who are starting to lose patience with Trump. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, asking Argentina to re-impose export duties. And the agro-exporters recording a record volume of shipments free of withholdings before the rules of the game change again.
