The Association Friends of Galician Cuisine delivered the first Galician Cuisine Awards this Monday in Santiago. The city of A Coruña stood out especially with eight of the twenty awards, with Nado, by Iván Domínguez (a Repsol sun), winning in the categories of "mussel," "scallop," and "homemade dessert." The same number of distinctions was achieved by La Molinera, from Lalín, which won in "pork loin with kale," "Galician stew," and "Galician broth." For its part, Salitre, also from A Coruña, was the most voted by the jury members in "seafood rice" and "empanada." The gala, presented by Estíbaliz Veiga and Rafa Durán, served to claim "the value of tradition as part of modernity, highlighting the role of recipes that have crossed generations, local products, and the techniques that made Galician cuisine a symbol of quality," as highlighted by the organizers, who especially noted the dining houses that "preserve the authenticity of the flavors of always."
