The Taiwan market imported 11.5 thousand tons of tea in the first 5 months of 2022, valued at 33.8 million USD, which is a 4.1% increase from the same period in 2021. Black tea was the dominant type, accounting for 75.6% of the total import, with Vietnam being the leading supplier. Green tea made up 28.9% of the imports, primarily from Vietnam and Japan. Despite being the largest supplier, Vietnam's tea value is low due to its focus on raw tea for food processing. Taiwanese consumers prefer tea with good packaging, production information, and low pesticide residues. The Import-Export Department of Vietnam recommends that Vietnamese businesses diversify their tea products to increase added value and compete better in the Taiwan market.
