Tajikistan has seen a 20.6% increase in potato production in the first 10 months of 2024, reaching 1.139 million tons, as reported by the Statistics Agency. Despite this increase, the country has the highest potato prices among CIS nations due to high production costs, outdated farming equipment, lack of modern agricultural technologies, water shortages, insufficient logistics and storage infrastructure, and a weak transport network. These factors offset the reduced prices seen in November 2024. The country consumes approximately 111 kg of potatoes per capita, placing it third in the region. The Ministry of Economic Development predicts potato production will reach 1.163 million tons by the end of this year and 1.203 million tons by 2027.
