Tanzania: Tax chicken, and foreign fish to raise breeders

ZANZIBAR; The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has said that the act of increasing taxes on chicken products and fish from abroad is aimed at increasing the ability of local breeders to afford the local market. This was said by the Minister of State, Office of the Second Vice President, Hamza Hassan Juma while giving explanations and answering the arguments of some members of the House of Representatives who contributed to the government budget for the financial year 2024/2025. He said that the long-term cry of local breeders is the presence of chicken products from abroad that are sold at cheap prices and thus bring down their market to the extent that they cannot afford the competition of production.
