In March 2024, Vietnam experienced a decline in corn imports, totaling 871,741 tons valued at over 215 million USD, a decrease of 6.5% in volume and 9.1% in value from the previous month. Despite this monthly drop, the first quarter of 2024 saw a 27.1% increase in corn import volume year-over-year, though the value fell by 4.8%. Brazil and Argentina are the primary suppliers, with a significant rise in imports from Argentina. Import prices have generally decreased, especially from Laos. With domestic production covering only about 37% of its animal feed needs, Vietnam remains one of the world's largest corn importers and the biggest in Southeast Asia since the 2018/19 crop year.
