In the first seven months of 2024, China imported 153,235 tons of mangosteen, with 73.85% coming from Thailand and the rest from Indonesia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. The import share from Thailand has decreased while that of Indonesia, Vietnam, and Myanmar has increased. Indonesian mangosteen's market share in China has risen from 4.93% in 2022 to 24.92% in 2024, and it is expected to continue to grow. However, Vietnamese mangosteen production has dropped by 50-60% due to high temperatures and lack of irrigation, leading to a decrease in market share and price drop. Indonesia is also seeking approval from the Australian government to export mangosteen and is preparing to export to the Australian market.
