In 2023, Thailand experienced a decrease in canned tuna exports by 13.42% in volume and 9.34% in value, totaling 445,000 tons and US$2.0873 billion respectively. Despite this decline, the country found a way to convert byproducts into pet food, leading to a 21.64% increase in export volume and a 37.60% increase in export value in the first five months of the year. The top markets for Thailand's canned tuna were the United States, Japan, and Australia, accounting for over 40% of the total exports.
