Tuna prices in Thailand and the Philippines have surged to $1,550/ton or even $1,600/ton due to a 45-day fishing moratorium in the Western and Central Pacific. The price may further increase to $1,600/ton. The price of skipjack tuna, which accounts for a significant portion of the import, has seen a cumulative increase of over $250/ton since April. Despite strong fishing in the Eastern Pacific, the price of skipjack tuna in Ecuador remains $1,300/ton. Production in the Indian Ocean, especially around the Seychelles, has increased, with the price ranging from €1,250-1,300/ton for MSC-certified production.
