A Hungarian TikTok vlogger has noticed a significant price difference between the same brand of pasta in Hungary and Austria, with the Hungarian price being more than twice as high. The higher logistics costs and different tax burdens in the two countries could be contributing factors, but they are not enough to explain the 80% price difference. The special Hungarian retail tax and price caps could also be playing a role. The vlogger points out that in Hungary, the average net salary would only buy 328 kilos of pasta, while in Austria, it would buy 1.4 tons.
