Particularly good sweet corn harvest results are expected in the northern part of the country, while the situation is not as good further south. A significant portion of the sweet corn produced domestically is processed by the canning industry, but fresh, cob sweet corn is also extremely popular among consumers. The fresh product for the market is primarily produced by small-scale farmers, and thanks to the use of various cultivation methods and scheduled planting, Hungarian sweet corn is available in stores and markets from the end of May to the beginning of October. Farmers involved in domestic sweet corn cultivation are hopeful for favorable harvest results this year.
