On December 3, the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (Frutas de Chile) held a new season launch and documentary premiere event for Chilean cherries in Guangzhou, officially starting the 2025/26 Chilean cherry production season in China. The documentary, produced by CCTV, focuses on the advantages, quality, and long-term cooperation of the Chilean cherry industry with Chinese partners.
Charif Christian Carvajal, Director of the Eurasian Market for the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association, delivered the opening remarks, kicking off the event. Following him, Ambassador Pablo Arriarán of Chile to China emphasized the key role of cherries in Sino-Chilean trade relations.
Xie Shuibin, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, delivered a speech reaffirming Guangzhou's important status as a fruit import hub and its commitment to continued cooperation with Chile.
Iván Marambio, President of the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association, and Claudia Soler, Executive Director of the Chilean Cherry Committee under the Association, delivered video speeches, outlining the outlook for the new production season and the industry's efforts in China to ensure cherry quality, sustainable development, and promotional activities.
Attendees at the event included: Song Yuanming, Commercial Consul of the Guangzhou Consulate General of Chile, Deputy Consul Ma Jiala of the Guangzhou Consulate General of Chile, Deputy Director Wu Bingxiang of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Director Liu Zuoren of the Guangzhou Customs Nansha Customs, Director Gao Xiaodong of the Liaison Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Association for the Promotion of International Trade, and Yang Bin, Head of the Business Department of the General Manager's Office of CCTV.
The event then reached its climax with the premiere of the new documentary "Sweet Miracle, Fruit of Friendship" produced by CCTV.
"This documentary vividly showcases the passion that Chilean fruit farmers and exporters of the Chilean Cherry Committee have for our fruits," said Marambio. "The CCTV team excellently presented the workers, processing procedures, and commitment to quality and food safety behind the cherries, which ensure that every year, delicious and fresh cherries, after a long journey from Chile, still arrive in China in excellent condition."
Similarly, Claudia Soler added: "Promoting Chile—its geographical landscape, natural resources, culinary culture, and its people—is crucial for expanding export development and consolidating its position in the international market. This documentary not only achieves this but also demonstrates a high level of professionalism, showcasing the entire process of successfully delivering fresh, high-quality cherries to their main destination markets."
