(EUROPA PRESS) - The European Union's agriculture ministers will discuss on Monday, at the request of Spain, Ireland and France, the European Commission's decision to close access to bottom fishing in 87 protected areas in community waters of the Northeast Atlantic. The three countries will present a joint letter to the Council of Agriculture Ministers of the EU to ask the European Commission to take a step back from a decision that involves vetoing the capture of species in waters with depths greater than 1,500 meters and that affects bottom fishing gear, such as trawling or longlining.
