German fruit producers expect an apple harvest above the average level of around 1,009,000 tons in 2025. According to an initial estimate from July 2025, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) forecasts that 38,300 tons (+3.9%) more apples will be harvested than the average for the last ten years (970,500 tons). This is the first time since 2022 (1,071,000 tons) that the one million ton mark has been reached, surpassing the relatively low apple harvest of the previous year (872,000 tons) by 15.7%. The reason for the positive harvest expectations is the mild weather conditions during the flowering period and the lack of frost and hail in most growing regions. By 2025, apples will be produced on an area of 32,700 hectares across the country and will remain the most harvested fruit tree crop in Germany.
