In 2024, Russia saw a significant increase in the cultivation of industrial hemp, with the area under cultivation expanding by 5.1 thousand hectares to a total of 16.5 thousand hectares. This growth is the result of state support from both federal and regional budgets. The leading varieties of hemp sown were Rodnik, Nadezhda, and Seim, with farmers from 38 regions participating in the cultivation. The Volga Federal District and the Central Federal District were the largest areas of cultivation. This marks a substantial increase from the 0.95 thousand hectares cultivated in 2010.
