In Rabi winter season, India saw an increase in the area under cereal crops, particularly wheat, with 34 million hectares dedicated to wheat and 5.3 million hectares to other grain crops. The area under oilseeds also saw an increase, with an additional 106 thousand hectares allocated for rapeseed and mustard, and 150 thousand hectares for sorghum. However, the total area under Rabi crops decreased by 191 thousand hectares, reflecting changes in crop acreage influenced by market demand, weather conditions, and government policies. Flexibility in responding to these factors is highlighted as essential for ensuring agricultural growth in the country according to the Ministry of Agriculture's report.
