Argentina has secured access to Namibia's market for the export of live horses, following an agreement between the country's National Service for Food Safety and Quality (Senasa) and its Namibian counterpart. This agreement, which marks a significant achievement for Argentina's horse export industry, mandates specific health conditions to be met, bypassing the need for a negative PCR test for equine encephalomyelitis. The deal also aims to enhance the certification process for Equine Viral Arteritis, a move welcomed by Namibia. This development is expected to bolster Argentina's commercial standing, particularly after a successful year in 2024 where Senasa certified exports of 2,835 horses to five continents, notably meeting the stringent health criteria of countries like China, Japan, Chile, and Malaysia.
