Turkey's honey production was reported to be 104 thousand 077 tons in 2020, with Muğla province being a significant contributor, especially in pine honey production. However, recent forest fires and climate changes have impacted honey production, leading to a decrease since 2019. The fires in Muğla have destroyed red pine trees, essential for bees, putting pine honey production at risk. The Turkish Beekeepers' Central Association suggests waiting for nature to recover before planting new trees and emphasizes the need to consider the characteristics of the regional pines. The fires have also affected the bees' food source and raised concerns about the future of pine honey production and export.
