Belarus is expanding state regulation of prices for socially important goods due to rising consumer prices, according to the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. The new decree, which will regulate prices for various food products and control the size of importer's and wholesale markups, aims to combat the accelerating annual growth in consumer prices driven by increasing global food prices. The decree also sets a limit on price increases for socially important essential goods at 0.2% per month.
