Water buffalo production is advancing as an alternative proposal that promises to gain prominence in the livestock industry of the red land. At the beginning of this year, the Association of Water Buffalo Breeders of Misiones was formed, which is chaired by producer and agricultural engineer Fernando Tejedor. "The population of water buffaloes grows year by year. More and more producers are joining this activity and those already involved have increased their herds," affirms Tejedor in an interview with Bichos de Campo. Currently, the Association counts about sixty producers dedicated to raising water buffaloes, and they estimate that this number could rise to over ninety, with different herd sizes.
