The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin Jerte Cherry has begun to certify the first picotas of the season, with a forecast of three million kilos among the Ambrunés, Pico Negro, Pico Limón, and Pico Colorado varieties. At the moment, cherries from the Burlat and Navalinda varieties, the earliest in the valley, have been certified, and certification of the Van variety has begun. The president of the Jerte Cherry PDO Regulatory Council, José Antonio Tierno, has explained that this year's campaign "is advancing with a slight delay, but with good prospects".
