The city of Yeosu announced that it will provide a total of 280 million won in eco-friendly agricultural direct payments and continuous subsidies for organic and pesticide-free farming to 967 farming households to promote eco-friendly agriculture. The city plans to issue these payments after verifying the eligibility requirements. The eco-friendly agricultural direct payment system, implemented since 1999, compensates farming households for income reductions and production cost differences resulting from the implementation of eco-friendly agriculture, aiming to achieve sustainable low-carbon farming. The system targets farming households cultivating 1,000 square meters or more of registered farmland. If organic farming products are continuously produced, subsidies are provided for five years for organic farming and three years for pesticide-free farming from the initial year of payment on a per-field basis.
