In October, the average price of cotton lint in Brazil was the lowest since October 2009, in real terms (deflated by IGP-DI). This is what the surveys by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) indicate. The Cepea/Esalq Indicator (payment in eight days) had a monthly average of R$ 3.5176/lp, a decrease of 5.16% compared to September/25 and 12.7% compared to October/24. According to the institute, the devaluation of the lint is a result of the record national supply, contained domestic and international consumption, and the lower levels of external quotations and the dollar.
