Hungarian livestock farmers are experiencing a favorable year due to stable feed and energy prices, favorable purchase prices for livestock, and significant investments in the sector. The government has allocated a budget of 500 billion forints for investments in horticulture, animal husbandry, and food and feed processing. The Rural Development Program has also provided grants to nearly 3,700 livestock breeders. However, the increasing average summer temperature in Hungary, which has risen by 1.74 degrees Celsius since 1901, poses a challenge by reducing animal productivity and requiring additional costs for cooling and shading. Despite these challenges, there is growing interest in animal husbandry among students. The Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan also prioritizes support for livestock farming through modernization, energy efficiency, and disease control.
