The European Parliament (EP) adopted its official position ahead of this year's UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will take place from 10 to 21 November 2025 in Belém, Brazil. The MEPs insist that the European Union (EU) remain a global leader in the fight against climate change, reaffirming its commitment to limiting global warming to 1.5°C. The resolution adopted by the EP at the proposal of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) emphasizes the need for the EU to continue setting ambitious climate goals, in line with international agreements and its own climate neutrality policies. The MEPs highlight that climate actions must be economically effective, preserve the competitiveness of the European economy, and ensure social justice and a high level of environmental protection.
