The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has announced that Bulgarian factory pig farms can now export locally farmed pork to the EU, following the European Commission's decision to ease restrictions on pig production and trade in the country. This decision comes after the successful control of African swine fever in 2019 and 2020, as evaluated by the EC. However, the Bulgarian Consumer Protection Association has expressed concerns over an increase in imports of substandard chilled meat and eggs, sold at dumped prices, and has called on the agency to tighten control over the market.
