Ukrainian honey producers have seen a significant increase in their global market position over the past decade, with export volumes growing more than five times between 2012 and 2023. Despite the challenges of war, the industry continues to demonstrate positive trends. In the first quarter of 2024, honey exports reached over 23,000 tons, generating around 44 million dollars. The European Union (EU), particularly Germany, Poland, and France, is the primary market, accounting for nearly half of the revenue. Ukraine consistently ranks among the top five honey exporters, holding the 4th position in 2023 with the EU bringing in 112 million dollars from Ukrainian honey. The country is also the second-largest supplier to the EU, following China, with total sales of 52,000 tons in 2023. Other markets including the USA, Turkey, Great Britain, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Qatar, and Jordan have also imported Ukrainian honey. This success is attributed to the liberalization of trade with the EU, providing Ukrainian beekeepers with guaranteed access to European consumers.
