The European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) has given a positive assessment of Georgia's system for monitoring aflatoxin levels in hazelnuts. The audit, carried out in late 2023, involved the National Food Agency providing information about state-controlled procedures. An action plan was approved based on the audit's recommendations. This approval will streamline the export of Georgian hazelnuts to the European market, eliminating additional procedures and delays.
