Argentina: The export of queen bees and companions to Italy and Spain was certified

The National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa) certified the export of 1,400 queen bees (Apis Mellifera Buckfast) and 9,800 companion bees destined for Italy and Spain, from two breeding establishments that carry out their activities in the Valle Medio, province of Black river. The professional team at Senasa's Northern Patagonia Regional Center supervised the conditioning procedure and certified that the bees came from inspected hives immediately before shipment. The health evaluation determined that the bees did not present clinical signs or indications of diseases or infestations typical of the species, and that the breeding apiaries are located in areas that do not present the American Foulbrood disease and are free of exotic diseases, such as small hive beetle (Aethina tumida) or the mite Tropilaelaps spp. Furthermore, prior to shipment, samples were taken and sent to the Senasa Laboratory, the results of which also confirmed the absence of diseases.
