Ukrainian farmer, Ivan Yarmolyuk, has identified the need for a change from domestic plums or cucumber plums, which he finds unprofitable and disease-prone, to the Japanese or willow plum. This alternative offers advantages such as smaller fruit walls, better fruit quality, and increased productivity. Additionally, it is more resistant to fungus and offers a longer harvest period from late June to October. Furthermore, the Japanese plum's fruits can be stored until the New Year, making it a more viable and sustainable option for farming.
