A virtual meeting was held by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) to review the king crab (Lithodes santolla) fishery's certification in Argentina, which was granted in March 2022. The review, led by Dr. Enrique Morsan and Dr. Italo Campodonico, among others, involved evaluating the fishery's impact on habitats, management practices, and sustainability. The National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development (INIDEP) provided advice on various conditions, including the assessment of the king crab resource and potential risks to habitats. The MSC aims to promote sustainable fishing through annual audits, allowing eco-labeling of products to indicate sustainable[INST] and[INST] environmentally friendly practices.
