A shipment of 21,870 fresh coconuts, weighing 23.5 tons, has been exported from Vietnam to China via Bac Luan Bridge 2 Border Gate, Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province. The shipment was declared at the Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch and is the first of what is expected to be more than 10 containers per day. This export follows protocols signed in August 2024, officially allowing the export of fresh coconuts, frozen durians, and crocodiles to the Chinese market. The volume of imported and exported goods through Mong Cai City's border gates and openings has increased by 12% and 68% respectively compared to the same period in 2023, averaging 3,640 tons/day.
