The first batch of fresh coho salmon from Chile arrives in China

(EFE) – A flight with 2.5 tons of fresh coho salmon from Chile landed this Tuesday at the international airport in the central Chinese city of Chengdu, the official Xinhua agency reported. The agreement for the export of fresh coho salmon from Chile to China was reached in October, during President Gabriel Boric's state visit to the Asian giant, where he met with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping. Eastern Air Logistics sales manager Qiu Dejun, quoted by Xinhua, said that a third of the coho salmon will be consumed in Chengdu, while the rest will be sold in other cities. According to the airport customs authority, some local companies are considering importing more varieties of Chilean seafood such as razor clams in the near future.
