The Chinese government has given the green light for the importation of fresh Malaysian durian and its skin, with the first shipment expected to arrive by the end of the month. This comes as durian imports by China last year reached US$7.8 billion, primarily from Thailand and the Philippines, with Malaysia in third place. The Chinese government has approved Malaysia to export eight types of fresh fruit, including durian. In other news, 150 Chinese companies have registered to participate in the Malaysia International Halal Exhibition (MIHAS) and the Malaysia-China Summit 2024 (MCS 2024) is scheduled for December, aiming to strengthen Malaysia-China bilateral relations and explore trade opportunities.
