The first Kazakh bean harvest festival, organized by the Manyas Culture and Tourism Association, was held in the rural Kocagöl neighborhood. In the 1700s, the Cossacks, who were oppressed in Tsarist Russia, migrated to Turkey and settled in the rural Kocagöl (Cossacks) neighborhood. They planted the bean seeds they brought with them around Manyas Lake and cultivated them. When the Cossacks returned to their homeland in 1962, they left the Kazakh beans as a legacy. In recent years, the Manyas Kazakh beans, which have received a geographical registration, led to the Manyas Culture and Tourism Association organizing the first Kazakh bean harvest festival this year.
