During a meeting in Seville, three Andalusian federations and associations expressed their concerns to the Director General and Deputy Director General of Fisheries of the Junta de Andalucía about the new MAPA order that regulates sardine fishing in the Gulf of Cádiz. They argued that the implementation of the order would cause severe economic and social damage to the purse seine fleet in the region. The fishermen in the Gulf of Cádiz are prepared to take action to defend their rights, which could include appealing to the courts, seeking protection from the European Commission, and organizing demonstrations.
