In April, the Argentine Chamber of Medium Enterprises (CAME) conducted a survey finding a significant gap between the consumer price and the amount paid to producers for the 24 main agricultural products, with consumers paying on average 4.67 times more. This gap widened by 8.7% from March, shrinking producers' share to 28.1% of the total price. The increase in consumer costs was largely balanced by a decrease in producer disbursements. Notably, the prices of several products fluctuated greatly, with orange and lemon prices surging by 86.5% and 83.3% respectively, while tomato and mandarin prices dropped by 13.4%. The product with the highest price multiplication since leaving the field was carrots, where consumers paid 14.3 times the amount received by producers.
