Spanish exporters of garlic, almonds, and fish preserves have expressed concern this Tuesday about the terms of the agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United States, due to the importance of the market and the uncertainties regarding whether they will be exempt from the 15% tariff. Among the products that Spain exports to the United States, garlic is the most sold horticultural product; in almonds, both countries compete while in the case of fish preserves, the American market is an important destination and also a country of supply for raw material imports. Moreover, following the agreement, it is pending confirmation which products would be exempt from the 15% tariff, although community sources in Brussels have mentioned nuts, lobsters, processed and raw fish, cheeses, other dairy products, and pet food.
