Turkey: The global climate crisis also negatively affected figs

AYDIN (IHA) – A sector meeting was held for dried figs, known as the national fruit of Aydın, which is one of the leading products in the world in the production of Turkey. It was stated that the climate crisis due to extreme heat in the Mediterranean Region, where the temperature increases every year, also negatively affected fig production. It was stated at the meeting that fig producers will face many problems in the coming period and that there will be serious difficulties even in obtaining agricultural insurance. At the meeting held under the coordination of Aydın Commodity Exchange (ATB), 2024-2025 Season Dried Figs and the situation of the sector were discussed.
