The global soybean price for May 2021 has increased by 8.12% from April, leading to concerns about the stability of tofu and tempeh prices. In response, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade is working to maintain the price of imported soybeans at a level acceptable for tofu and tempe makers. The Ministry is also monitoring global soybean prices to ensure reasonable prices for craftsmen and sufficient stock to meet national needs, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2021. Additionally, the Ministry is encouraging regular supply of soybeans to tofu and tempe makers by importers.
