Russia has permanently implemented an export duty of 5% on peas, chickpeas, and lentils effective from January 1. This duty, applicable to deliveries outside the EAEU, is designed to maintain a balance between export and domestic consumption. Despite a good harvest of leguminous crops, Russia has experienced difficulties in exporting these crops, with significant volumes remaining unsold due to disrupted deliveries to traditional markets like China. The 5% duty is expected to have a negative impact on the market, especially with intense competition from Canada and Australia.
