The Government of Castilla-La Mancha is working to enable the packaging and labeling of Calasparra Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) rice in Hellín (Albacete), with the aim of promoting it through the 'Campo y Alma' guarantee brand. The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development, Julián Martínez Lizán, who visited the Las Minas Rice Field in the Hellín hamlet this Wednesday coinciding with the start of the harvest, explained that "it is about helping to keep alive an essential crop in our territory, unique to Las Minas and El Maeso, so that we can continue to enjoy one of the best products in the world." The DOP Calasparra Rice Field covers more than 600 hectares distributed between Calasparra and Moratalla (Murcia) and Hellín (Albacete).
