The government of Kazakhstan reported on efforts to contain prices for important food products in 2023, with a focus on stabilizing prices for flour and bread. Despite an overall inflation rate of 9.8%, the food inflation rate was lower than the non-food inflation rate for the first time, driven by the stabilization of prices for socially important food products. Vice Minister of Agriculture Erbol Taszhurekov announced the progress in containing food prices.
