In Russia, over 135 million tons of grain in bunker weight have been harvested—nearly 9 million tons more than the previous year, and the harvesting campaign is nearing completion, the Ministry of Agriculture reported. This includes 93.5 million tons of wheat—7.8% higher than last year, and 20.5 million tons of barley (plus 15.4%). The harvesting of corn, rice, and buckwheat is also in full swing. Grains and legumes have been harvested on an area of approximately 42.5 million hectares, or 93% of the sown area. The average yield compared to the same period last year has increased by almost 15%, including 14% for wheat and 22% for barley, the agricultural department compares. The Ministry of Agriculture maintains its forecast of the harvest at 135 million tons in net weight, including 90 million tons of wheat.
