The growth in imports and ample supply are putting pressure on prices of rapeseed meal in the EU.

The seasonal increase in domestic stocks and the active import of rapeseed meal into the European Union, as well as the decline in demand for soybean meal following the postponed implementation of the EUDR regulation, are leading to a decrease in the prices of rapeseed meal in the European Union at the beginning of December. As of December 9, the prices of rapeseed meal on an FOB Hamburg basis are $216 per ton – 10% below those at the beginning of November and 28% below the prices from a year ago. Data from the European Commission indicate that the import of rapeseed meal into the EU from the beginning of the 2025-2026 agricultural season, which started on July 1, reached 432,500 tons by December 7, which is more than twice as much as the same period last season. The main quantity – 324,800 tons – was supplied by Canada, even though there was no import from the North American country into the EU in the previous season.
