Thailand is the leading Asian and third worldwide exporter of chicken meat, with exports valued at $4,074 million in 2022, a 25% increase from the previous year. The country enjoys free trade agreements (FTAs) with several markets, including Japan, China, and Malaysia, which account for 70% of its chicken meat exports. The Department of Trade Negotiations is working to further reduce import duties on Thai chicken meat in potential new FTAs with the European Free Trade Association, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. The Ministry of Commerce is actively advocating for more market access for Thai chicken products to enhance their global competitiveness.
