Fruit imports in Korea have been on a decline for the second year in a row, reaching their lowest level since 2014 at 770,050 tons in 2020. This is due to the impact of the Corona 19 pandemic and a sluggish local crop of major imported fruits. The majority of the imports were bananas from the Philippines and oranges from the United States and Australia. The total imports decreased by 2.6% from 2019, largely due to a decrease in banana and orange imports. However, imports of other fruits such as avocados, kiwi, and melon are on the rise. The signing of 11 FTAs over the past 10 years has significantly affected the domestic agriculture and the fruit market.
