The Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso approved, in two votes, the bill that establishes the Green Passport Program, which places the state at the forefront of sustainable livestock in Brazil. The new legislation comes into effect in January 2026 and establishes socio-environmental criteria for the entire monitoring of the Mato Grosso bovine and caprine herd, with the aim of meeting the requirements of the most competitive international markets, reported the Mato Grosso Meat Institute (Imac) in a statement. Developed by Imac in partnership with the state government and the production sector, the Green Passport proposes complete socio-environmental monitoring of the meat chain, from the birth of the animal to slaughter.
