The libertarian government decided to eliminate the minimum slaughter weight in place for almost two decades, which was celebrated by many. Both producers and consignees of livestock said that each one should be allowed to send to slaughter what they believed was convenient, based on their needs and production strategies. Only some sectors of the industry raised objections, but they were not heard.
